Newbie needs some painters tape
Today i finally cracked open the practice kit, and using my new tools and new shop cart eagerly started on page one of the instructions.
I was very happy with how everything went, proud as punch at my 36 dimples and my 12 countersinks, then had a look at the rivet call out - which i had even highlighted at the start so as not to mix them up...
Seems before i am too "eager" to dimple next time, i need to be more careful and put some painters tape over the holes. Live and learn. Might need a few more practice kits.

Blue tape and blue Sharpies are both valuable tools to have. We’ve all been there, so don’t be afraid to use both liberally throughout your build!

Hi Trent,
Don’t sweat it. Take your time, measure twice, and cut once as they say. I have ordered a few replacement parts over the last couple of years.
Where in Melbourne are you?
I am in Frankston, and am riveting my forward fuselage together as I get the time. Feel free to come over. Contact me if you need a hand.
Cheers,
Joe

Thanks Joe!
I’m up in Strathmore.
Had a much more successful afternoon! Beginning to like the gun.

Hi Trent,
Are you a member of SAAA? Is there a local chapter near you?
Brian Ham is my TC, and lives in the northern suburbs.
Do you have your empennage kit?
Cheers,
Joe

Hi Joe,
Yes I am - I don’t know about any chapters in Melbourne?
Peter Pendergast has kindly offered to show me the ropes on the airfoil practice kit - just got to find a time that is mutually agreeable.
I haven’t ordered he empennage as yet - getting close in the negotiations if you know what I mean.
I don’t know Brian unfortunately.

Hi Trent,
There is a chapter at Moorabbin, and a chapter at Kyneton. I am not sure of any others out your side of town.
If you are ever down my way, feel free to contact me if you want to have a look. I will pm you my contact details.
Keep in touch.
Cheers,
Joe
