Flap to Fuse RV-7

Hi, I have read all the threads of the bending solution with the lower flap skin to met the fuselage, mi concern is that I have allready painted my flaps so if y try to bend the paint work will be loosed, so if i cut the flap skins eliminating the overlap to the fuselage what would be the loss in terms of speed? I cannot find these point in the plans set and or instructions.

Please Help, and have a nice week.

I cut mine off and riveted new inboard over lapping skins on with a spacer to clear the fuselage. You could always make new inboard skins and paint them before riveting to the flap. I doubt you will loose much speed with out them, but you might make the cabin a touch more drafty by leaving them off, but this is speculation.
