Wing Rear Spar trim question

Just wondering, how close are the measurements, on drawing 38, they give on trimming the rear spar so it will fit into F-705 bulkhead? Will I be safe if I cut to those measurements shown on the REAR SPAR TRIM DETAIL? I don't want to cut to those measurements and then come up short on length.

I cut mine to the plans numbers

Plans are good, had plenty of edge distance to spare too. I did have to trim the upper inside corner to clear a rivet head on each side, see here: http://jmjula.home.comcast.net/~jmjula/images/fuselage/wing_drilling.jpg

The measurements are fine. Just be sure you're reading those measurements off the plans carefully. There's almost no room for error here.

A few important lessons learned here before drilling were priceless.

Measure twice, cut once. check, double check.
Be precise when trimming the rear spars.
replace the rivet above the rear spar with a flush rivet.
Clearly mark edge distance allowance on spar.
set incidence and clamp
drill to #30 and cleco, recheck incidence, and check edge distance
drill undersize and ream to final size


I must have looked at 15 builder's write-ups before drilling, then called vans and looked at more.

It would seem that the biggest source of edge distance woes come from spar cutting errors.
