Wing Access Panels

I'm building a set of wings for a -6 and was wondering if anyone out there has installed access holes in the bottom skin. My plan was to cut 4-5" holes in each bay of the lower skin, install dimpled round doublers, and install cover plates dimpled with #6 screws. I don't think it would significantly reduce the strength and would allow access for riveting the top skin as well as inspecting the spar/ribs later. I would do this on the panels aft of the spar. Your thoughts.....

Our RV-6 (Kit #4) has two access panels in the bottom of each wing - one inboard, and one under the aileron bellcrank (both aft of the main spar). Are you talking additional access?

Yes-I'm thinking one in each bay aft of the spar. I was just wondering if anyone else has ever done this.

You really don't need extra holes. You can get access to all riveting by working inboard to outboard reaching under the outboard piece of skin.
