Alternative OAT Sensor for Sandia STX165

I've got a Sandia STX165 in my airplane. It works great, and I like it. Sandia sells an Outside Air Temperature sensor that hooks to my transponder which allows it to display OAT, and density altitude. Unfortunately, this sensor is $325. I'd like to have the sensor, but not that bad.

I know this is a long shot, but I thought I'd ask. I was wondering if anyone had run across a cheaper, off the shelf, 3 wire temp sensor that would work with the Sandia transponder.

The 3 wire sensor is probably a thermistor and a resistor which only cost a couple of dollars. The problem with making your own temperature sensor is finding thermistor with the correct characteristics to be compatible with the Sandia. Here is a LINK to a post about Dynon's OAT probe.
