GRT Inter-Display Link

I am about to replace my old D10 with a GRT mini that will be connected to my Sport SX. I mainly plan to use it as a stand alone engine monitor. Can anybody tell me if the engine data will be shared from the Sport, or do I need to tee into the EIS4000 serial line to get that data? I?d rather keep the 2nd serial port on the mini free for future use. Thanks!

I have an HXr linked to two mini?s and the engine data can be displayed on all three. Single EIS wired just to HXr. While not a Sport, I think the link is the same.
