Well Known Member
The new EAA Chapter at Albert Whitted Airport in downdown St Petersburg is active and encouraging RV folks to join us. We meet on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at the Hangar Restaurant at Albert Whitted.

Last week we had a flyout to Sebring for breakfast. Bill Auer (RV8) with me in the back seat, Glen and Pam Gunn (RV8), and Bill Northwall (RV8A).

In addtion to the above member aircraft our chapter members have a flying Lancair and RV8 and RV10 projects under construction.

Our next meeting will be Tuesday Aug 15. The August presentation will be on the little known but current investigation of what was likely the first airplane hijacking in history.....the Pan Am Hawaii Clipper went missing between Guam and the Philippines in July 1938. There is strong evidence to suggest that the flying boat was hijacked by the Japanese and flown to Truk Lagoon where the crew and passengers were executed and entombed in the concrete slab of a building under construction at the time. The state of the art aircraft was then flown to Japan to be reverse engineered.

The September presentation may be on basic med.
