LYC accessory case reinstall

I had to remove the accessory case on my O-360 to replace a leaking oil seal. I have reinstalled the case and I notice that the gasket is approx 1/2 inch too long. Should it be folded and put under the sump gasket or simply cut off and some RTV applied to the corners of the the sump/assy case intersection? Just trying to avoid any leaks.

Slice it with a razor. Pretty sure the manual calls for a small RTV blob right there in the corner when just doing the accy case without a sump pull. SOP for prop strike inspection.

Manual says RTV*102*or*LOCTITE*515. This RTV reference is not the same as the red high-temp RTV as we commonly use. (Web search the RTV102.) Personally, I use fuel lube (EZ Turn) and have no leaks.
