I had a couple really high speeds yesterday morning, going east to Longview for work. At 17,500' I had a direct tailwind that peaked around 66 knots, I saw 219 knots ground speed in level cruise at one point near top-of-descent and 236 in the descent with power pulled back.
Outside of the obvious few race-modified aircraft, that's pretty quick for an RV!
Hey Greg,
At those speeds, how long did your trip take from Lubbock to Longview?
Been a member but never documented it b4. ;-)

Hmm. I've seen 215 in the RV-9A with the big wing and smaller engine (O-320). I wonder what the other RV-9/A flights have achieved?
And when somebody hits 200 kt in an RV-12, that will be something! (Maybe poor judgment to fly in that much wind...)
Ed, I hit 202 knots yesterday. That is my fastest yet!
