Black Friday - what did you buy?

Ok, so I usually abstain from the 'black friday' shopping experience, but this year I did notice a deal I couldn't pass up that fit great with my under-construction RV-8. A Werner work platform on sale for $19.00 at Lowes, regularily $43! The nice thing was no 4am wakeup - the sale goes to 11/30/2010! I plan to use the two I bought during construction and after at the hangar for misc stuff on the airplane. Seemed like a good deal.

Got one!!

I bought one of them too. Also, Lowes has the big clamps for $.99. I buy at least 5 every time I go in there.

I barracaded my self inside my hangar, I spent 0 dollars and came in contact with none of the rabid holiday beasts out in the malls. I successfully made it thought Black Friday untouched by insane bargain hunters. Twas a good day!

well i did order some more fineline tape and another bag of clecos... but that doesnt count does it?

I bought a RV-6. Now I just need to learn how to fly it. Whats with the nosewheel on the back of the aircraft and why does it not want to go straight on the runway?

Hey Brent;

A Werner work platform on sale for $19.00 at Lowes, regularily $43!

Thanks for the heads-up on this. I just ran out and picked up a couple. I called several stores around me and they were selling out fast.
BTW, they're only $17.10 ea. with the Veteran's discount.

I have had a couple of these for few years and they are great!

I bought a 2x pro rivet gun and a book about aircraft sheet metal from Aircraft Tool Supply. Both were on special and between that and the free shipping I saved about 25%. The fact that it was Black Friday was just a coincidence though. Those specials are good for the entire quarter.

Aircraft Tool Supply has good tools at good prices.

I spent the morning......

.....making test flight #2 on a brand new RV9-A:D
I skipped the shopping experience, although I need a couple of those stands. Hmmm

Congratulations in order?

Hey Don, Is it your -9A that you test flew? If so - Congratulations!

(your signature line says you're still battling the canopy demons)

Android

Got a free Droid 2 from Verizon. Great new toy. Now have excellent access to AirNav, Weather, AOPA etc,. on the go and in the hangar!

I wish it was mine...

.... but alas!
It belongs to my good friend russd on the forums, it is one sweet ride. It is now listed in the finished RV9 forum.

Apple iPad 64gb WiFi/3G for $622. Too good a deal to pass up.
Monday I'll order my bluetooth GPS and ForFlight and I'll be up and running with in-flight moving maps, charts and approach plates.

Where'd you find that? Even with Apple's black friday discount, I thought the 64g, 3G version was nearly $800.

It's kind of like this:

I bought a RV-6. Now I just need to learn how to fly it. Whats with the nosewheel on the back of the aircraft and why does it not want to go straight on the runway?

About a year ago I took a 67 year old ex-PanAm Stewardess (back when they were called stewardesses and were ALL pretty) for a ride in my new RV-7. She informed me she was a "taildragger pilot". You gotta love it.

And for the "topic" I bought some avgas and slipped a few surlys.

That little Ruger looks a lot like a knock off of the Kel-Tec P-32 and then the P3AT .380.

I bought one of each - one for myself and one for my wife. They are tiny but you're not going to hit anything much further out than seven yards.

I own a few handguns but don't really shoot much anymore as the cost of ammo has become prohibitive. But I will say that of all of them my Glock model 30 subcompact .45 really shines. I've put thousands of rounds through it and it has never failed to feed and for a short barreled gun it's very accurate. My #2 favorite is a jewel at a bargain basement price, the CZ-75B.
