Z Bracket Groove

Hi All,
Happy Thanksgiving for the Americans here!!

On the web of every bracket, there is a groove in the middle the full length of each bracket? Why? Is it normal? Do I need to grind it out of every bracket?

Sorry, I need to read up on how to include pics.

If you are talking about the z-brackets that are used on the fuel tanks then no I don't believe you need to do anything with that groove. I just left it.

Yes, it's normal. However, do some research on drilling them. There's more than one way to skin that cat.

Yes, these are the fuel tank z brackets. It was odd to see the groove in the middle of a bracket.

I?m going with the Checkoway/Hurlbert (sp) method. I did the first 1/8? hole (turned out to be a #30 bit though). I?ll use the 1/8? bit for the other 4 holes on them.
