Canada isn't part of North America, according to Garmin. Garmin's web site is no help, and neither is the 30+ minute hold for any phone call to Garmin for any reason.

Shopping for a 795/6 annual database bundle, you can choose USA or, for $50 more, North America. The database descriptions are identical. But dig deeper, and you find Canada isn't included in North America. Can anyone explain just what the extra $50 gets me?

Interestingly, the old North America database on the GPS map (not chart) screen does include Canadian info, e.g, topo, airports, frequencies, airspace, sufficient for operating in Canada.

So what's the deal?

Hello John,

What's the deal, indeed.

Sorry that you found the database area of flyGarmin confusing.

When the North American bundle is shown on the page as a choice to buy, you can click on the "coverage details" and see that this bundle does indeed include, for example, navigation data for all of North America.

When you click on the coverage details for the Garmin Americas North navigation database, you get this information which not only shows a picture of the coverage area including Canada, but also has a textual description of the coverage area which includes Canada.

At 5:00 P.M. yesterday, there were exactly zero unanswered emails in the [email protected] inbox, so please feel free to contact us via email if the phone lines are backed up. Responses are generally quite quick throughout the day using this method of communication.
