Voltage Regulator ?

I have never posted on a forum so I hope I am doing this correctly. My 35-Amp alternator in my RV6A, 0-320, stopped putting out today and I am suspicious of the voltage regulator and want to replace it. What is currently installed is a Transpo P8-405A, two wires plus case ground. I am hoping to find a Solid State VR locally but I can find no auto-part stores that can cross that number. Can anyone help?

1975 Ford LTD, a common number that can be crossed over is VR166. I've used these regulators on my RV-6 with the 35a alternator since 1999.

+1 for VR166

I removed the trans pro that came in my RV6 with the VR166 Sam mentioned; It has worked well since I replaced it and is easy to find at almost any auto parts store. S94 is the part number for the connector to connect the regulator. I drilled and added a case ground to the regulator case for extra insurance.
