Default Front Canopy Fairing Glass Type

Planning on making the fiberglass fairing that goes between the front of the canopy and canopy metal. What type and weight of fiberglass should be used for this? Not an expert fiberglasser so need any input you may have.

Thanks,
John

Something like Aircraft Spruce #120-38 for lighter cloth or 7725 for slightly heavier will work (European = 92110 or 92125 but doesn't translate to US specs easily). It is not critical, but a 2 x2 twill cloth will drape much more easily around the curves than a straight weave. Use West 105 epoxy with 206 hardener, but get someone to show you what to do. Its not difficult if you can get some instruction in the basic dos and donts.

Default Thayercraft 7500 9.6 oz

I used 7500 it is a boat or tooling type weave at 9.6 oz/sq yd. I got it from Thayercraft https://www.thayercraft.com/9.6-oz-7500.html You do want to use a bi directional cloth in the 7-10 oz/yd range. Lighter cloths will just mean more layers to apply.

Make sure you look at the vans instructional videos on making the fairing for the 14. Not exactly the same for your 7 but close enough.
