The build manual is clear: The main gear legs are to be painted with two-part epoxy primer, then painted. The legs are shiny and pitted as a result of bead blasting I'm told. My question regards prep for the primer. Should Alumaprep and Alodine be used or is thorough cleaning enough? (Yes, I used the search function.)

If you're using a modern self-etching epoxy primer; if desired, scuff with a fine grit sandpaper, wipe clean with acetone, mineral spirits, or whatever prep the primer calls for, and prime.

Because of the blasting texture, etching with a surface prep containing phosphoric acid (aluma prep, etc.) is the best way to assure a surface that is 100% cleaned of oxidation before primer application.
