WD-657 Installation

Took advantage pf the long weekend and got a lot done on the RV. Started on the external step installation on Tuesday. I really like where my steps are sitting at the moment. The hole in the skin isn?t overly large and the flange of the step is nearly flush with the skin. What little gap remains can be easily closed out with a little finger pressure.

The only catch is, the current location only picks up three of the four specified fastener locations common to the F-724 rib. I would have to move the step up about 5/8? to capture all four fasteners as shown in the plans. This would make my cutout much larger (and possibly even start to show on the bottom). I?m wondering if I can get by with just three of the four.

In the picture below (Left side step, forward edge to left of the photo), the crosses are the new fasteners laid out per the plans. The dots are the approximate location of the F-724 fasteners.

Just for the record, here was the response form Van's...

The exact number/location of rivets is not that important. See pic on our 7A here ? you can see they went between the skin rivets.
