Nose wheel breakout force

tman512

I'm New Here
My RV6A nose wheel will not maintain the 22 lbs. of breakout force. Will replacing the U-611 disk springs correct this problem? My plane has logged 925 hours.

I would disassemble, clean, remove any burrs from belleville washers, regrease and reassemble. Others have had good success by dressing the edges of the belleville's that contact each other.

You may have to tighten the bolt past the present cotter pin holes, torque to 23-25 lbs of breakout force and drill new holes for the cotter pin. For what it's worth, do not put any grease on the Bellvile washers. Lubes defeat their purpose. This is mentioned in the plans/instructions. I have found that a little overtight of specs works better.
Cheers
