source for oil return hose

Is the hose used to connect the oil return lines to the case typical automotive hose or something special? It looks like one of them is weeping a bit of oil that simply tightening the hose clamps isn't seeming to cure. I only need a couple inches of it, so I'd like to source it locally (quickly) if possible. Thanks.

I laways replace them with MIL6000D OIL AND COOLANT HOSE from Spruce. Much thicker, and doesn't weep. Lasts much longer. :)
Get the MIL6000-6. 2' is enough to do the engine.

power steering return hose

Power steering return hose. This hose is on the low-pressure side and returns the oil from the steering gear back to the reservoir. It's specifically designed for hot oil under low pressure, as this application is. Also, use spring clamps instead of worm-drive. They maintain even pressure as the hose shrinks with age and don't have a single pressure point as worm clamps do.

(edit 6/1/23-- select 16mm hose clamps if the link goes to a different size)

Below is my -6 with ~700 hours on the hose:

A small amount of Fuel Lube / EZ Turn applied to the return line nipples will generally prevent leaks. Don't put so much that you risk getting a glob of it getting inside the hose.

You can find SAE 100R6 -6 hose and it works well. Mil 6000 is really what you need like Vic suggests.

What size clamps did you use? Link specs in millimeters.

Gates' spec for the hose says that it's 0.655" OD, which is 16.6mm and 17mm is close.

And, as Larry suggested, McMaster Carr is where I got those originally. These are probably what I used (15 years ago).

Cool. That's what size you had the link open to, but I didn't want to assume.

And if you use the MIL-6000 hose the OD range is .688" (17.48 mm) to .750" (19.05 mm)

Would be an 11/16 inch size in good old US units...:)
