Best Practices - Bending/twisting angle for making brackets

John Courte

Hi All,

I'm about to make a few brackets for an oil cooler mount, and I see a lot of examples (some even in the plans) for cutting off a part of one side of aluminum angle and using that to attach other things. The HS comes to mind.

I've also seen examples where the remaining part is twisted slightly to match the angle of some other attach point.

What's the acceptable twist vs length of something like 3/4" .062 angle?

What about bend radius?

ACS has a nice chart for sheet, can I safely assume that translates to angle?

Thanks!
