Hello to all,
I am trying this once again as my first thread got locked and I could not update it. Not sure why, maybe I did something wrong. Anyways I will try and post a link to my Photobucket which has many pics of my progress. Have finished the Vertical Stab., Rudder, and nearly complete with the Horiz. Stab.
Thanks, Phil

Steady progress

Making steady progress on the build. Wings are ordered and scheduled to crate on the 18th of April. Attached is a link to Photobucket. For some reason pictures are not in order. Hope it works. All I have left to do is attaching the fiberglass tips and mount the Trim Servo in left elevator, I think that's it. Ready to take a break from building for a couple of weeks. Looking forward to Sun N Fun. Hope to meet some RVer's in Florida. Thanks, Phil

That's a good speed Phil. After your fuel tanks are done ( estimate from 70 to 100 days with your pace) put deposit on the fuse. Enjoy building the wings you will be able to close them solo. :)

Wings are here, with damage unfortunately

I got my wings on Friday and unfortunately 6 of my wing skins were damaged. The shipping company had knocked the 2x4's that were on the bottom of the crate off sometime in shipping. Then they proceeded to put one of the forks of a fork truck through the side of the box.
Thankfully Van's has already made me new ones and they are on their way. Thank you Van's.

I've started on the spars. Going good so far. I did have an issue initially with the tank nutplates, the CS for the #8 dimple were not turning out well. Not nice and round like they should be. I called my friend Dave (RV7 builder) and he came by to help. Turns out I was going too slow with the drill. I read so much about CS at slow speed, I got too slow. Lots of chatter and not nice and round. He got me on track.

Sorry to hear about damaged skins. The nutplates look good! Keep pounding building wings is fun.

Wing and aileron progress.

Top skin riveted to left wing. My RV friends Dave and Paul came over and helped me on top skins. In 2 1/2 hours we did the whole top. Unbelievable, i couldnt believe we did them that fast. Paul is a four time RV builder and Dave is nearing completion of his RV 7. I had alot of experienced help.
Started ailerons, intend to finish ailerons and flaps and then begin the right wing. Hope to order fuse kit in Nov or Dec

Ailerons completed.

On to Flaps next and then plan on starting right wing. Ive got main spar ready to rivet ribs. Glad i have alot of the countersinking and nutplates done already.
Just completed my wind cradle tonight. Hope to order fuselage by Nov.

Finally, a Longaberger basket has another use other than storing junk. Now, if I can only convince my wife! Still looking good Phil. :)

After 3.5 months I have completed the ailerons and flaps for my 9A. I did wind up with oil canning on one of my ailerons, its just in one section between the ribs. Not sure what to do about this??? Now its time to start on the right wing. Left wing is complete with the exception of riveting bottom skins on. Hopefully by end of Jan. I can have right wing complete. Fuselage is ordered with a ship date of Jan. 3rd. Continuing to bang rivets.
