Cleveland wheel clip

After putting the plane in the hangar after the first engine start I noticed my right main wheel had the outer clip on the outside of the bearing come out of the groove. Not sure what would cause that to pop out but while fitting it back into the groove it will go in but seems reluctant to stay there. So I'm not sure if I have too much tension on the wheel nut or not enough tension. When installing nut I went snug tight then backed off a little to insert cotter pin. Is this one of the concerns I hear about these wheels? Is that clips' purpose to hold the outer bearing in place?

Yes, that clip does hold the outer bearing in place. Make sure the groove is clean.

Check the groove for damage.... like for an area that the snap ring won't fit in.

Check the snap ring that it lays flat and does not have a twist.

Research the proper way to adjust the bearings for your wheels.
