Garmin 430/530 VSR not displaying

Has anyone ever had an issue where the VNAV Messages were set to "On" but were not displaying? Also I am unable to view the "VSR" value which I usually heavily use

I read that you must be on a FPL or a Direct-> Navigation while getting these values, and have a ground speed greater than 35kts- all of those conditions are satisfied

I have run into this as well.

Are you selecting "GPS" on the "CDI" button? My install won't display the VNAV required unless it's in GPS mode.

oh wow, I never even tried that, and no it's pretty much always on VLOC mode.

here are the parameters for using the VNAV function.

VNAV is inhibited in the following conditions:
? Groundspeed is less than 35 knots
? No active flight plan or direct-to destination
? SUSP mode
? Vectors-to-Final mode
? VLOC mode
? After the FAF on an approach

this is identified in the GNS Pilots guide in the Vertical Navigation Page section.
