Alternator issues

So I turn to final the other day, and my low voltage lights starts flashing at me. Voltage was 12.2, but earlier In the flight it was 14.4 which is where it always is the second the plane starts. I have a B&C 40 amp alternator with the external regulator mounted inside the cabin. There is about 140 hours on the pair. I removed the cowling and all wire connections are clean and solid. I have not yet looked at the regulator for a loose wire, but if anyone has some suggestions as to trouble shooting/experience with these it would be welcome.

Could be a burned out diode or diodes. Thats what happened to my alt. (purchased from Vans) My syntoms were similar to yours and indicated voltage was Batt voltage.
Cheers
