0320 Vacuum cover

I am sure this has been covered but I can't find it. I removed the Vacuum pump on my 0320-D3G. Does the gear need to be removed? I just put the plate and gasket on and tightened it down. Any issues with this?

The vacuum pump drive can be used as an alternator drive or spare backup alternator in the future.
