Garmin GTX-327 software update

There is a service bulletin which is a software update for the GTX-327 transponder, dated Aug 2017.
It is software version 2.13. It is apparently for altitude reporting issues when using Gilliam (Grey code) input from an altitude encoder. I have this type input. I am having some problems with my transponder altitude display. It will display 0 altitude a good portion of the time, and what appears to be a correct altitude at other times. I am wondering if this software update will fix my problem. Has any else had this issue, or know anything about this update?

I had the software update done at a local Garmin avionics shop. They charged a hour's labor. I flew 10 hours the next weekend while on flight following and had no complaints from ATC about wrong altitude or bad info from the xpdr. I also have ADS-B 'out' from a GDL-82. When you get the software update it might be a good idea to have them ck the transponder for any other issues.

I doubt it, the 327 has been around a very long time with basically no issues from gray code encoders.
