oil cooler line routing RV-9A

I'm wondering if it matters which way oil flows through the cooler. My issue is my oil lines(steel braded hoses) cross each other so hard that they will chafe. Also the long (from) line from the engine is too close to the back of the left mag. If I uncross the hoses to correct the problems and reconnect, the long hose will have to be remade/replaced with one 2" longer. If it doesn't matter which way the hoses connect to the cooler (I can't imagine why it would), I could simply switch hose connections at the cooler and be done with it.

Thanx,

Ideally, the oil enters the cooler at the bottom so any air is pushed out the top of the cooler and you get full benefit of the cooling capacity of whatever oil cooler you install.
