MGL Avionics SP-12 ADS-B GPS

Just a heads up...
MGL Avionics has released the SP-12 GPS module. This module is ADS-B 2020 compliant for SDA=2 and SIL=3.
It connects directly to an MGL CAN bus and is compatible with the MGL Avionics Trig transponder interface (allowing to use the Trig transponder as "headless" system in an MGL EFIS environment).
As before the Trig will use the GPS information from the EFIS if available but will give priority to the SP-12 if that information is available (so in effect, with the SP-12 in place the EFIS acts as backup GPS source).
The MGL EFIS on the other hand can use the SP-12 either as primary or backup GPS source (selectable by the user).

The SP-12 also provides a RS232 NMEA output that is compatible with most of the 2020 compliant TABS GPS solutions out there (including the $RAIM message). The baudrate defaults to the standard 115200 for these devices however the user may select from a wide range of other baudrates to suit other systems.

The SP-12 is usable as GPS source for all transponders providing a NMEA input that can be selected as TABS TSO-C199 compliant input.

Of course the SP-12 can also act as compliant GPS source for the upcoming MGL Avionics T16 transponder.
