hot shutdown checklist

SHUT DOWN
? Throttle ? IDLE
? ELT ? CHECK LIGHT OFF & CHECK signal on 121.5
MHZ
? Ignition ? BOTH OFF
? Avionics ? OFF
? Master ? OFF
? Tie Down ? CHOCK two wheels min
Post Ignition - due to hot weather
? Ignition ? BOTH ON
? Choke ? ON
? Ignition - 3 seconds BOTH OFF

Can anyone explain what the bolded portion is for? Based just on the checklist itself, it looks like you are supposed to cycle the ignitions and open the choke after shutdown. Is that correct? How does this procedure help in hot weather?

Thanks in advance,

That is an old version of the POH. Current version does not contain those steps. Dont have a clue what that procedure would accomplish. Maybe a typo?

I think they are referring to the engine running on when the mags are shut off
mags back on full choke for 3 seconds then both mags off
should stop engine running on

That's what my wife keeps telling me. I'm out of date and social relevance. However, ask me about flying and I will talk for hours...
