Anyone know the size hole to drill in the panel for the standard vans push-pull cable?

The cable at the threaded section is 7/16" OD. Ultimately you need to also take into account the diameter of the pass through that you are using, be it a snap bushing, silicone grommet etc or something fancier like The 1/2" version of one of these, which just fits the Vans supplied cables.

I would recommend using a Bowden cable firewall fitting for the pass thru. Available from Spruce.

Just to be clear, if the OP is talking about drilling the cable mounting holes in the F-10105 Control Cable Bracket on the Instrument Panel lower flange, no grommets or pass-throughs are required.

The cable is for cabin heat and will be on the panel, not the flange

Same advice anywhere not on the firewall. And if its an A-740 the mounting hole size is 3/8'".
