BNC connectors and losses

My GTX23es remote transponder installation uses BNC connectors for the antenna. In my case, because of how and where I mounted it, I'm forced to use two 90 deg adapters, one on each end of a 3 ft RG400 antenna cable. Someone told me (long ago) that 90 deg BNC's cause reflections and increased SWR. Sounds wrong to me.....but thought I'd throw it out there

My experience back when I was a GA avionics tech was that those 90 deg adaptors never worked. At the high freq, it would cause the frequency to shift. they make 90 deg bnc connectors that work fine.

Get a quality 90 deg adapter from Amphenol and you will not have a problem at 1 Ghz. Specs are available on the web.
