Calibrating the fuel senders/gauges??

I had to replace my left fuel gauge with a new Vans unit. It was intermittent from flight to flight for a long time and then finally failed. I haven't had a lot of time to test the accuracy but I am worried it is reading high after a couple tanks flown down to a reading of 2.5 gallons. Before I replaced the gauge, I got comfortable that the system was very accurate down at 2.5 gallons remaining (on both sides). I know that the sender arms can be adjusted to get an accurate 2.5 gallon reading, but my sender was accurate before I swapped that gauge. Is there any way to adjust the gauge itself? Anything I am overlooking?

Just for full disclosure, the gauges were always slightly different at full, and they are now as well. I never worried about this because once they came off the "full" indication, they were both accurate as the fuel was consumed down to 2.5 gallons, which is as low as I have gone.

Looking for an education. Thanks! Andy
