First Pilots N Paws Mission

I've been signed up for years, but never had the opportunity for a mission until last weekend.

My mission was to escort Dixie & the Dixie Cups from Quincy, FL to Seminole, FL (225sm)

Dixie has one bad eye, heartworm & was living under a shed with her 6 puppies. I delivered her to a rescue.
Dixie is a good mother, but an escape artist. I placed the puppies on the right seat & Dixie in the kennel in the rear baggage area.
I went into the FBO before departure. When I returned, Dixie had escaped the RV. I placed her back in & secured the kennel better.
Well, 20 minutes into the 75 minute flight, out comes Dixie.
She was a good girl & came out to check on her pups & then went back to rest on the top of her kennel to enjoy the view.

I delivered them all to their final destination without issues.
It was very rewarding & I'm looking forward to the next mission.

You beat me to volunteering for that flight by just a few minutes - glad you enjoyed it! Looks like there are a bunch more pups needing rides from Bainbridge GA to various parts of Florida that I may try to help out later this week or next. I have successfully put up to about a 40# husky in the baggage compartment, but my dog is the only one I trust up front yet.

Yes. The missions fill up quick. I had signed on to one earlier from Quincy, but got canceled because the 9 pyrenees pups werent ready. Next week, they will too big for the RV.

I've signed up for one from Perry on the 17th, but someone from SPG is looking for the 16th or 18th.

Sounds like your RV is running well. Keep in touch. Maybe we can get together along with Carl & George for a breakfast/lunch flight somewhere.

Great job, and excellent report! My first PNP mission was to transport a Boston from Kentucky to Alabama.

Nice Job Dan!

I'll look forward to talking to you about doing this.
Tied up this Sat with Grandson's birthday ride to breakfast but the following weekends and the next two Wednesdays (Sebring) are free.
Let me know.

Is Chris at Clearwater Airpark or still in ZPH? We have yet to run into him.

I'm still at ZPH, will be up there tomorrow...

Way to go, Dan!

That first pic is a real winner! Dixie just making sure you are following all the regs and such!

Great Job!

Nice work!

I love this story. This is a cause I can get behind. I will look into in my area of TN...

Repost to PnP Site

Dan,

So glad to see you join the many RVs flying pups through Pilots N Paws. Would you mind if I cross post to the PnP site?

I've settled at 50 pounds for dog size. The plane can obviously handle more, but the loading and unloading can be a doozie. I have learned to bring a few dog yummies - toss a couple in the baggage area and the dogs usually scramble after them.

Usually can't make it during the week. If weekdays are your regular times for flying that explains why we don't see you.

Although George occasionally gets there during the week,we're usually weekend types.

Would enjoy getting together with Dan during the holidays. Perhaps then?

Check with Jim Carney, retired ATP, who lives in/near Collierville and flies two planes out of M04. He flies a lot of PnP missions. You'll see his name on the PnP website.

Thank you Tanya.
Feel free to post it on PNP. The requestor also took several pictures, but she may be posting on the Boston Terrior rescue site.

Thanks for the tip on the treats. I know my dog will do anything for a treat. :D

Kind of like us when you bring us cookies.:)

It's a tough month for me as we have birthdays & holidays.
Let me know ahead of time & I can try to squeeze it in.

I saw the repost on PNP.
I'm really looking forward to the next mission.
I'll make sure I have a goody bag for my passengers.

Breed Limitations

Can you limit missions to certain animal breeds ?

Sure. As a volunteer, you can choose which animals you offer to fly. If you'd prefer certain breeds, only reply to those requests that meet your criteria. Most requests include the breed or a picture.
