Duluth MN - what to do in?

Hi gang:

I'm in Duluth on business and it looks like I will have a late afternoon-evening free.

Any suggestions on aviation activities I should see? Is there an active GA airport I should visit? Anybody have a build going on they would like to show?

Thanks Terry.

P.S. I have the slowest RV-6A build on record going. Just about to start the EFII fuel injection system install.

Cirrus aircraft

Cirrus gives tours of their factory. Call ahead for times. Interesting tour.

Also canal street down on the harbor is full of restaurants old iron ore carrier ship and a merritime museum. You can see the lift bridge from there.

You might consider dropping down at Sky Harbor. It's like the Meigs Field of Duluth.

There's a casino on the hill if you're of a mind.

If you can get up to Enger Park, there's a tower you can climb there that provides a breathtaking view of Superior and the city. It's well worth it.

Hang along the canal and wave to the lakers coming in (No, Los Angeles, you didn't invent the term "lakers")

Bob hit my usual high points - Sky Harbor, Enger Tower, Lift Bridge. When I was in High School in the Cities, I'd rent a Cherokee and grab three friends to fly up to Duluth for dinner and back. I remember going up one time and climbing Enger Tower just to watch the sunset. As we got to the top, we could see the fog rolling in from the lake....that was probably the fastest road descent ever - got off of Sky Harbor just as the first tendrils were wafting over the runway..... :)

The museum at the Lift Bridge is excellent if you like maritime stuff.

I'll put in a 3rd recommendation for Sky Harbor, and also walking around the Park Point area which is just past the airport. It's supposedly the longest fresh water sand spit in the world.

The Great Lakes Aquarium is pretty interesting, and you can also tour the ore boat William A Irving in Canal Park. Canal Park itself is fun to walk around, or you can rent bikes and cruise around on the board walk.

Duluth MN - what to do in:

Hi gang, thanks for all the tips.

I was staying on Canal Street, so I got to walk up and down there quite a bit. I went to the Marine Museum, well worth it.

I live in Sault Ste Marie so I'm quite familiar with the "Lakers" they go by my work everyday, but you don't appreciate their size until you pull up beside one of them in a small boat.

I made it to Enger tower, well worth the climb. Great view.

I made it out to Sky Harbour, really impressive facility, unfortunately it started to rain when I got there. I didn't feel like spending too much time getting wet. I'm putting it on my bucket list to come back in my own plane and spend more time. I sure hope the Mayer does not pull a Daly and make another park.

I made it back in time to take the tour of the William A Irving. That's the first time I've been on board a Laker, they are big.

Thanks again for the tips, Terry.
