I totally forgot until FaceBook reminded me of my most liked post from 5 years ago today......When my project became and airplane. It's a crappy pic of a pic but my FAA DAR handing over the goods when he couldn't find a reason not to.
Like I said I didn't know about "her" birthday, it just so happened to be my day off. What should a guy do on his day off even if it is a tad bit chilly? The previous snow in front of the hangar has melted and more snow in the forecast for later in the week so might as well take advantage of the 2000' OVC with flurries and warm up the oil! Besides my copilot hasn't flown for 2 weeks and he's been feeling the need for speed.
Barely enough time for the oil temp to stabilize and we make it to K81 for lunch, the regular door was still locked since we were the only pilots of the day so we arrived via the side door. The crate of toys on the floor by the door really fit our style as does the 2 plates with 1 order.
Back at the hangar after lunch for an oil change and lil' dude routine. Seems so normal now after 5 years and 366.4 hours......I mean I need to stir the oil and charge the battery anyway and it only costs 3 gallons of gas. Plus I got in some good crosswind currency at both runways!
Pretty amazing what all the years and dedication has turned into, an amazing airplane at my disposal that I "know" how to maintain and fix and I can't wait to fly again. And can somewhat afford....
