FIRST FLIGHT

This announcement is a little late, but on October 3rd I made the first flight in N731JN. Needless to say I was ecstatic. The second flight was yesterday, outside of a slightly heavy left wing it flies great. Cudos to Van's for designing this great little airplane.

Congratulations Joe !!! The first flight is a real rush of emotions to be sure.

Regarding your slightly heavy left wing, I had that too .... before bending up the flaperons take a very close look at both wing skins aft of the rear wing spar. I had some areas that were a little high and others there were a little low.

Lower the flaperons and lay a straight edge across the wing skin parallel to the ribs and make sure the wing skin aft of the rear spar is in alignment (level) with the wing skin forward of the rear spar. Work your way across both wings a few inches at a time lowering high places and raising low places with a wooden block. This was a tip posted by another builder that worked great for me.
