Aircraft tows

Anyone have plans/ideas for a homebuilt tug?

I just put the 10 on the gear and it grew 3X in size.

I was able to move my RV-7A around with a tow bar and my 145 # body (in soaking wet clothes). Almost had a face plant once when I didn't see that drop of oil on my painted hanger floor. I was always tentative moving it on wet tarmac.

I've looked at Aero Tow and Best Tug.

I can build an airplane. Surely I can build a powered tug.

Thanks,

Jerry

We moved our -10 build around the hangar on

Harbor Freight auto dollies -- worked great --later, when the plane was finished, we moved it in and out of the hangar with a battery-powered "Power-Tow".

I bought an old Montgomery Wards riding mower for $100, fixed it up and made it my airport tug.

I am at a towered airport so I have to talk with ground control if I want to tow it to/from the wash rack or fuel pumps. Because of this they gave me an actual call sign (Tug K4) and it is quite the conversation piece around the airport.

You can see more photos of the project in the maintenance section of our webpage.
