De Beer epoxy

Hi all,
Is there anyone who has used and can recommend the De Beer 1-7510 epoxy system.
I enquired with an industrial paint supplier about Akzo 463-12-8 or an alternative and they came back with this.

Not equal for 2024 Tx alloy

High concentrations of chromates give the protection for aluminum alloys with copper - 2024. Looking at the MSDS, this does not contain chromates (10% or so) and would not be equal in that respect. Scratch tests show non-chromates (with a few exceptions) preform much more poorly with this alloy which dominates the RV build.

It looks like the De Beers (Valspar) primer would be too thick for a general interior application.

It is being advertised as an easy sanding high build primer.

I did wonder about it being too thick. I'll give that one a miss.

Hey,

Since you're in NZ - Have you looked at Resene Durepox? I've used it on my RV-8 project, it is pretty amazing stuff.. And readily available at any Resene Automotive outlet..
