After 10 months, my son's graduation and USAF commissioning present completed a facelift. The restoration of my 1989 RV-4 included the rebuild of its O320-E3D, 160hp, dual PMags, Catto 3 blade, Aviation Products TW, removed vacuum instruments replaced with Dynon D6, Tru Trac Turn Coordinator, MGL Stratomaster 4 channel Engine Analyzer, new interior, pressure recovery wheel pants, new registration and paint.
How do you like the MGL instrument?
SmokeyBill,
Wow, the day I finished UPT my Dad handed me the reins (no key needed) to our family Taylorcraft. It would fly for nearly 10 years until finishing my RV4. More than one squadron mate flew my RV4 and had to have one. The gift continues.
Like I told my Dad: Thanks, I love you too!

"Shrek(RV4,6) and me"
All three of my RV's (HR2 as well) had MGL instruments in them. I really like their product. My RVX currently has an MGL Enigma which pound for pound has more capability than any EFIS out there for half the cost.
After a few years of looking around, a few weeks ago I finally bought an already flying RV-4. After completing my transition training yesterday in an RV-7, I finally flew it today! Great airplane, although I must admit that I was nervous about flying it since I do not have much tailwheel time. It is serial number 377, started in the early 1980s. It sat untouched from 1993 until about 2008, when Scott Hess bought it and finished the project July 2010. I found out about this airplane right here on VAF, saw it, and fell in love with it. It has a 160hp engine, fuel injected, and a fixed pitch sensenich prop, and only had 71 hours total time when I bought it. Looking forward to many hours of fun with this airplane.
Since I don't know how to post pictures yet, attached is a link to the pictures I took today after my first flight.

Many thanks to the many VAF members (you know who you are) who have helped and encouraged me throughout this process, which took a few years. Could not have done it without them.
Thanks,
[ed. Added one of the pics for you! dr]
This is my second RV. First flight 15 December 2006.
RV-4 pages at http://www.mninter.net/~kbeene/rv4p1x5.html
I started building this over 22 years ago and finally flew it July 29th.
First flight was Oct 25, 2012. Not mine, but local. See how many differences from a stock RV-4 you can find.
I bought it a few mouths ago.. Some will recognize this plane. It lives in the KC area now. Based at K59...
