Removing Engine Isolator from Mount?

David Paule

Well Known Member
My RV-3B engine mount, now that I took the motor off, still has three of the rubber isolators attached. I know that they are just stuck in; the fourth came right off.

What's the best way to remove these without damaging them?

Thanks,
Dave

General rubber mallet beatings and wooden dowels does the trick. You would be hard pressed to damage one.

That worked great!

I just stuck the end of a dowel into the isolator from the engine mount side and used the mount's weight to pop the isolators out (in each case, one of the pair was already off), beating the dowel on the driveway. It took all of about two minutes.

Thanks!

Dave
