G3X WAAS; GTX 335 & GDL 39R 3D

My ADS-B In/Out is at present non-complaint for lack of a WAAS source.

I know I could install a GPS 20A, but it costs the same and I'd like to get the good mountings of the GDL 39R. It's cleaner, one less box.

If I swap out my old non-GPS GDL 39 for a GDL 39R 3D I think that solves it, but I'd like some confirmation. If I read the system diagrams correctly, this is a complicated data routing.

GDL 39 => GDU 370 => GSU 25 => GTX 335

What could possibly go wrong? Is anyone using the GDL 39 3D as a WAAS source in a G3X system?

Thanks,

The GDL 39 is not a certified position source. Might as well keep using the GPS inside your GDU 370.

All GDL 39’s have a gps. The 3D version adds a Mickey Mouse AHRS.

Not sure Garmin ever made a 3D version of the 39R.

So... GDL 39 Overview saying...

* Built-in WAAS GPS receiver

It's not certified to the requirements for ADS-B out level?

btw, this is exactly why I asked. So Thanks!!!

Nope. Sorry it is not.

You can get a WAAS GPS puck on EBay for $5. The requirements for being used as a position source for ADS-B out go way beyond WAAS.
