Deburring Question

Not sure if this is the correct place for the is post, but I am not sure that is it plane specific.

I noticed that only one side of the holes have rough edges (at least on the ribs). The other side is very smooth. Does this mean that you only deburr one side?

Thanks
Ken

The holes are only "rough" on the side where the punch came out. The other side should be fine.
That doesn't mean you don't need to check every one.
If it is smooth, it's OK.

Save work

My hope when I noticed this, is that maybe in the future, Van's can make the "in" side of the punch on the inside of the rib flanges since the outside is much easier to deburr.

Just do the fingernail test. If it catches, it needs some deburring. One turn of the deburring tool is usually all it takes.
