Cool Flap Brace W-721 Rivet Edge Distance

So I'm thinking of ordering new parts.

When trimming the flap brace I got a over enthusiastic. The result is a rivet hole with less than ideal edge distance.

What do you think, order a new flap brace or is there a fix?

Default Flap brace

Ask Vans first to be certain. They may allow a new hole or two.

Good thought! I didn't think about that.

I agree with Larry, Van's is pretty good about coming up with fixes instead of new parts most of the time. I can't think of a reason they would say replace over drilling a new one in this case.

Thumbs up

Well I talked to Van's today.

After looking at the photo in the first post they said, do nothing or to make me feel better, add another rivet about ⅜" further outboard so the new rivet could share the load.

I added the extra rivet and the flap braces are now riveted on the wings.

Awesome! Van's to the rescue again! I like how Van's is willing to work with you on things like this, it would be very easy for them to say "replace the parts" and most people would probably just do it. I have noticed if Van's says replace it usually a pretty jacked up part!
