Landing Gear Toe Alignment
Today I installed the landing gear, axles and measured for correct toe alignment using Vans method. The right is toe in 0.8 degrees, easily correctable with a 0.75 shim. The left however is toe in 2.2 degrees, off the provided chart. I'm a little disappointed in this as everything thus far in the kit has been spot on.
I'm just curious what othes have seen for their measurements. I loosened the left gear and wiggled it a bit and retorqued with no change. I suppose I can stack three shims (0.75+0.75+0.5) but not sure that is acceptable but will call Vans in the morning. I would rather pay the $75 for three shims than wrestle with all the tight bolts holding it in to replace the leg.
Wings, empennage, fuselage and finish slow builds completed. Avionics Installed.
FWF in progress (temporarily on hold after unexpectedly having to move from T51 to KDWH)
