Canopy slide spacer and cap

Started on spacer and it is pre-bent and the bend matches the plans but is it suppose to lay flat into receptacle or be bowed as it enters the receptacle? Next question is why they want lightening holes in the spacer
that might weigh a pound?

Drill those holes, you want that much less weight! The curve doesn't exactly match the interior angle, it's not important, make sure it matches the curve on the dwg. The you are good to go.
