There were times I wondered if the day would ever come, but after more than 12 years and 4 months of slow but steady progress, my RV-6A (s/n 23559) was declared airworthy on 17 Oct and I made the first flight the following weekend on 25 October. So far I'm just two flights and 1.3 hours into my 40 hour Phase I flight testing but the plane flies great and I couldn't be happier with it.

My setup is AeroSport Power O-360-A2A with Sensenich FP, weighing in at 1,065 lbs (empty wt without gear leg fairings, wheelpants, or paint).

Heh, I'm in the same boat. SN#23264 (Dec. 94) will get it's inspection in the next week or so.

congrats on the first flight....give a pat on the back to the film hands...great job.

curious though how folks tie the a models down on the roll back/ trailer when moving to the airport. and what method did you use to pull it up onto the trailer. need some ideas because i have to do that this week. pics would be a great help.

move to airport; u-haul method

The two times I had to move my fuselage on the gear (once for move from WA to CA and second time was 35 mile final move to airport), I used a 26' U-Haul rental truck. Many have had success with flat bed tow trucks using a winch to get it on the truck. I used ramps and people power (5 or 6 guys, but could do it with less) to get the fuselage into the truck.
There are some threads on this if you search the archives.

My U-Haul truck tie down method looked like:

Just be careful and get some help....good luck with the move!
