A riveting Question

Hello VAF members.

Happy New Year.

Probably a stupid question but can anyone give me some advice. I'm working on the horizontal stabilser and about to rivet the rear spar doubler to the rear spar.

The question is:- Does it matter which side the manufactured head of the rivet is on? The plans don't indicate for the typical rivets. It does specify for a couple of rivets but it's the typical ones I'm talking about. My guess is it doesn't matter.

If it doesn't matter, is there a preferred option. Say for inspections or building competitions/displays?

Thanks

Ian

and....

And if the materials are the same thickness and there are no other over riding factors, put the factory head on the side that is easiest to drill out; it is much easier to drill out a rivet from the factory head side. Don't ask me how I know.
