Vacuum pump removal

So I removed my vacuum DG and AG and all the subsequent hoses and replaced them with 2 Garmin G5?s. I am a little leery of taking off the vacuum pump for fear of stripping the studs. Is there any issues with leaving the pump attached to the engine and the intake and exhaust hoses attached (other than weight and the HP being robbed by the pump)? I have the cover and gasket for the vacuum pump so I can remove it at a later date and install a backup alternator.

Thanks,
Dan

I removed the pump and installed a pad mounted BU alternator. There were no issues removing the pump. Not sure why you expect there will be a problem??

I had a seal fail on the vac pump on a 172 I used to have. Pumped out a lot of oil in a short time. Luckily it happened on the ground and was noticed before it became an in flight issue.

If it were my plane I would remove the pump and install the cover. FWIW.
