B-"Double E"-"Double R"-U-N Beer Run!

Work was kinda slow today. (OK is wasn't, but the weather was nice and Buddy Malibu had a mission, and I just left.......)

Malibu's boys and my Little Kate attend Iowa State, just like Malibu and our wives did, and it is Homecoming this weekend. Iowa is great, but the beer is lacking, so we figured we could get some forbidden treats from the Badger state to entertain the masses. We found an airport Equidistant from Malibu's home base at KBNW and my lair at KANE with a car and a supply of New Glarus' finest.

The B-EE-RR-U-N was hatched!

It's was just about an hour down the Big River, fall is in session......

Pete, you're mellowing in your advancing age - I never saw you sit still long enough to drink one beer, let alone multiple cases...

The google be ornery tonight - only 2 pics showing. They'll review later tonight and decide if we get to see the others.

Aren't you supposed to be hauling puppies around?

Moving beer across state lines.....hmmmm.

The headline reminded me of a hash club. So now, you are a drinking club with a flying problem?

Pete,
I made a similar run a couple years ago only in the opposite direction. :D
I flew up to the MSP area to have lunch with a friend and his family. Of course he took me to the Surly brewery for lunch. I had an Arnold Palmer while he had a nice beer. :(
I did manage to pick up some nice brews from Surly to bring back home.

Agreed! Surly beer and brewery is great, but I bike there from my home.........(in the summer)

Official Song of annual AirVenture HBC Beer-a-Palooza!

It was probably just an accidental use of this song without license or permission of The Official HBC Beer Tasting Commissariat or Mike Bullock, Esq.-Grand Poobah and Official Head Cheese but as one of his official "GoFer's" for this solemn AirVenture event, I feel the need to step in, protect his rights and that of the Commissariat and immediately lay claim one of those 12 packs on the behalf of the Committee as a licensing fee.

While I haven't communicated directly with President Bullock about this issue, I'm confident that our modest fee of just one of the "Seasonal" 12-er's will keep this out of the courtroom and not force us to ipso facto, habeas corpus or posse comitatus anyone...and you know that's something you really don't want happening!

I am honored to serve at the Committee's intermediary in this issue and (eventually) will deliver said licensing fee (or the empties) to the HBC Beer Tasting Board of Directors at a time and place to be determined.

Shipping and delivery of this licensing fee, of course, is your responsibility and I am glad to provide plane-side pickup of said fee upon its arrival at Hicks Airport, Fort Worth, Texas.

Litigiously yours in brewing solidarity,

Rob S.
HBC Beer Tasting Errand Boy

:);)

I got your Posse Comitatus right here, my friend!!!

Having said that, and respecting the Poo-bah-ness of said Mr. Bullock. I will bring a "12-er" of a Local Libation to the party of the first party on the aforementioned Sunday indicated.

I trust we can leave here as gentlemen and friends...........

Although, in my defense, I did fly all the way to Colorado to get this.

Congratulations, Pete, you've found yet another noble purpose for your plane.

Cheers!

Dare I ask why Pete's right wing root fairing is not painted, on an otherwise really nice looking airplane?

At the risk of some thread drift, I confess I have a couple of unpainted bits on my airplane now too, as a result of replacements since the painting was done. One was an oversight of going flying with one gear intersection fairing off, and overlooking the fact that the screws that hold the intersection fairing on also help hold the landing gear attachment access cover on. So, at 200 mph, the access cover "buzzed". One is a fiberglass blister fairing over the brake caliper on one of the wheel pants. It was held on only with "shmoo", which is flocked epoxy. The tire rubbed on it on a strong x-wind landing and popped it off. And one is a modified inspection cover that has a ventilation outlet in it, to help ventilation air exit from the aft part of the fuselage gracefully.

The point of my babbling? Well - well-used airplanes sometimes wear things out and get a few new added bits. So when I saw Pete's unpainted wing root fairing strip, it just made me wonder what the back story was.

I forgot to take them to the painter. They then became a "creative trim detail". I wish the story was better!

You obviously didn't bring enough home from OSH. I still have two cases left. Then again, I did fill the center isle of our camper with Cow on the way home. I would have brought more but the back of the truck was filled with cases of oil for various friends.

Hmm,
I can see the NTSB report now,
The Experimental Aircraft, over laden with contraband and in clear violation of Federal mandates (illicitly purchased alcohol being transported across state lines) and transporting to potentially underage consumers, crashed after several six packs broke open and impaired the Pilot's...vision....however, only empty containers could be found at the crash site. Van's Aircraft, the manufacturer of the kit stated their aircraft were not specifically designed to carry contraband and they disavow any knowledge therein....
Smokey and the Bandit notwithstanding...:)

No, but we will be back - 2 cars, and a great new airport building. Cheap gas too!

Actually Pete, that's pretty good. It reflects the complexity and attention to detail that the homebuilder faces, and shows that while we think of ALMOST everything, we miss something once in a while.

In this case, if you are going to keep it as a creative trim detail, maybe they should be polished?
