GRT EX Internal GPS Memory Power

Installing a GRT Sport EX with internal GPS. The pinout shows a red/white from pin A18 labeled "GPS Memory". I assume it needs to be wired directly to (and fused at) a main or backup battery?

There is no text explanation in the install manual, other than....

Dan,

I had the same question when installing the Sport EX. Mark Allen from GRT provided me with this email reply:

"Connect pin A18 to a hot battery lead with a 100k resistor in line. This GPS memory keeps the GPS from losing it's time. If it loses time it takes longer to acquire lock on. The note [Note 1] says the battery could be depleted if left unattended for an extended time (years)."
