Pitch servo mount angle dimensions

Reposting this on RV-8 forum in hope of confirmation of the 3/4" dimension.

I'm ready to fabricate the pitch servo mount angles from 1x1x0.125 angle stock.

If anyone has those angles (perhaps not yet installed) please confirm these dimensions (extrapolated from 3.5" servo mount holes dimension and 3.8" dimension on drawing). Mainly need confirmation of overall length and bellcrank pivot hole to servo hole distance (0.75").

No, I don't have servo, I just want to replace existing angles before I rivet on the rear top fuselage skin. Haven't decided on Dynon, Garmin or ... yet.

I already have the rodend bearings, rod, bolts, washers, etc. so not buying the kit.

I want to drill the servo attach holes before I install the angles, so when/if I get the servo I can just bolt it in place.

The documentation for the dynon kit is below. Not all the dimensions are there, but I'm sure if you asked them they would give them to you.

Some information from GRT:

The exact length of the angle is not critical - you just need to make it long enough, and make it match with the pushrod length. I made mine slightly longer than the kit, to make it easier to remove the servo if needed. If it is too short, then one of the bolts was hard to remove.

Here's my installation: http://www.rv8.ch/autopilot-pitch-servo-installation/

Take care to ensure that the servo arm can't go over center. That would result in a very bad day.

Thank you Mickey.

From your photos it looks like you mounted the servo further back than what I extrapolated from Dynon's drawing (3/4"). More like 2" between forward servo mount hole to bellcrank pivot bolt.

I guess if no one here has an Dynon angle laying around then can measure, I'll try to ask Dynon.

I added a couple more pictures to the article that I found. Perhaps this can help a little.

Thanks Mickey. That helps.

So it looks like the distance from pivot bolt to first servo mount bolt is not critical.

Correct - I made it a bit longer to avoid interference with the bellcrank, and I wanted to make both bolts go through both angles. I had to extend the pushrod by the same amount. I got the longer pushrod from McMaster-Carr rather than trying make my own.
